2020년 10월 경, 직계가족만 입국을 허용하던 캐나다 정부는 조건에 해당하는 커플들이 일정한 절차를 거쳐 승인을 받기만 한다면 확대가족으로서 캐나다에 입국할 수 있도록 허락해 줬다.
내가 신청할 당시에는 영어로 찾아봐도 정보가 별로 없었지만 한국어로는 더 없었어서 혹시 나처럼 고생하고 있는 캐나다 국제커플들을 위해서 어떻게 신청하는지에 대해 자세히 작성해보려고 한다.

1. 자격조건
나는 캐나다 시민권자와 재결합하려는 경우였다.
이런 경우,
<최소 1년 이상 교제하고 실제로 만나서 데이트 한 기간이 있는 연인 사이>
이어야 한다.
여기서 exclusive dating relationship 이란,
이걸 뜻한다.
예로 약혼자, 1년 이상 동거한 연인들(사실혼 관계 아니어도 괜찮음), 남자 친구, 여자 친구와 같이 서로 사랑하는 연인인 경우
2. 신청방법 (STEP 1~6)
STEP 1: 입국 제한 면제 신청서 작성하기
Step 1: Your family member fills out the application for authorization and statutory declaration form
Your family member who is the Canadian citizen or permanent resident must fill out the application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM 0006) (PDF, 2.2 MB).
Step 1. "the application for authorization and statutory declaration form" = 입국 제한 면제 신청서를 작성할 것
이 신청서는 캐나다 시민권자 거나 영주권자인 나의 가족이 직접 작성해야 함. (나 말고)
국제커플의 경우 가족 = 애인이라고 보면 된다.

양식은 여기 들어가서 다운로드한 뒤 작성하면 된다.
※ 주의사항
서명은 전자서명이나 프린트해서 직접 서명 후 스캔하면 되는데 1단계에서는 아직 애인 보고 서명하지 말라고 할 것!
(모르고 내 남친도 먼저 서명하고 나한테 그 폼을 메일로 보내줬는데 먼저 서명하면 그 양식이 아예 잠겨버린다. 내가 서명을 못함. 그래서 2단계에서 내가 먼저 사인을 하고 나중에 3단계에서 애인이랑 변호사랑 같이 사인해야 함)
STEP 2: 입국 제한 면제 신청서에 본인 서명
Step 2: You sign the declaration
Your family member in Canada sends you the filled out application for authorization and statutory declaration (IMM 0006) (PDF, 2.2 MB) for you to sign. After you sign the form, you send it back to your family member in Canada.
Step 2. 1에서 가족이 작성한 신청서를 받은 뒤, 서명하고 다시 가족한테 보내주기
본인 서명란에 서명만 하면 됨! 전자서명 가능. 신청서는 메일로 주고받아도 된다.
STEP 3: 입국 제한 면제 신청서에 상대방 서명
Step 3: Your family member signs the form by solemn declaration
Once you’ve sent the form back to your family member in Canada, they must sign the form by solemn declaration. This is done in front of any official who is legally authorized to receive a solemn declaration, such as a commissioner for oaths, justice of the peace, lawyer or notary public.
Step 3: 가족이 그 신청서 공증받으며 서명하기. 공증인, 변호사, 선서 입회관, 치안 판사 등 합법적으로 공증해줄 수 있는 권한이 있는 자에게 받아야 함.
이게 조금 까다로울 수 있는데 우리도 수소문해본 결과 동네에 있던 로펌들은 처음 보는 케이스라 그런지 다들 안 해준다고 그랬고 대신 온라인으로 공증을 받을 수 있는 서비스가 있어서 이 Notarypro 사이트를 이용했다.

처음에는 우리도 온라인이라 불안했는데 결국 잘 승인받았다.
홈페이지 들어가서 예약하면 된다. 스카이프로 할 줄 알았는데 남친 말로는 구글 채팅으로 진행했다고 한다.

Step 4: 이제 다 완성된 신청서를 나한테 보내달라고 하기
